Mira Feter
Mira Feter, whose real name is Martyna Feter, is a visual artist and the founder of Mira Atelier. Her practice brings together painting, sculpture, ceramics and objects at the meeting point of art and craft.
Beginnings and education.
Her creative path began at the State Secondary School of Fine Arts in Bydgoszcz, where she qualified as a visual artist. She then studied at the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of the Arts in Poznań, completing a bachelor’s degree in Design and a master’s degree in Furniture Design. She is also pursuing a master’s degree in Sculpture.
One practice, many materials.
She works with oil and acrylic paint, clay, slips, metal and different kinds of yarn. Her practice encompasses paintings on canvas, sculpture, ceramics and objects at the meeting point of art and craft, including furniture with a sculptural character. Each medium introduces a different rhythm and way of thinking, while remaining part of one practice.
Psychosomatic art.
Her visual language grows from magical realism and an expressive approach to form. Transformed figures, entangled eyes and elongated hands become metaphors for intense emotional states. Influences of naïve art, art brut and Alexander Lowen’s theory connecting psychological tensions with their imprint on the body are also present. Mira describes her work as psychosomatic art — a language of body and psyche in which an inner state reshapes the represented form.
Duende — the creative spirit.
For Mira, Duende is a force that guides the act of making: a spirit of the earth, evocation and inspiration. It is not skill or perfection, but authenticity born from confronting what cannot be fully controlled. In her work it returns in the form of great birds — symbolic guides and voices of inner tension.
The studio as a place of encounter.
In Poznań’s Wilda district, Mira runs a creative studio where her own practice meets work with other people. It hosts painting, sculpture and ceramics workshops that combine practical learning with the development of creativity and art therapy. The atelier is also a place for exhibitions, openings and encounters built around art.
